Indonesia is an archipelago located between the Pacific and Indian Oceans in Southeast Asia. Indonesia is the fifteenth largest country in the world with and area roughly three times the size of Texas. However the most unique characteristic of the country is that the archipelago is made up of over 17,000 Islands of which nearly 6,000 are inhabited (CIA).
Indonesia is also a country of great biodiversity, and is home to rainforests, coastal wetlands, beautiful beaches, and plays host to some of the rarest species of animals in the world. Yet as a juxtaposition to the ecological world places like Jakarta have began to explode into a bustling city with large buildings, a large population, and a shift away from the indigenous cultures that once inhabited the islands.
